Anyway, should I go ahead and update it? I don't want to like mess anything up. (<-- n00b)

Yeah go for it... the official update is pretty safe and easy. Just download Kies mini on your computer and get your Froyo!

Upgraded to 2.2 yesterday. Took about 10 minutes to complete download through mini kies. Very easy. Noticed big speed upgrade especially when downloading apps.

curious of a couple things...
1st: should I keep Kies Mini installed on my pc? If not why? what may I need it for?
2nd: I did the update back the day it bacame avail using Kies Mini and noticed that we got 2.2, not 2.2.1 wich is the most recent of the Froyo update. are we missing anything important here? Is the 2.2.1 not avail for the Vibrant?
Just curious on these things, been thinking about them since the update & decided to ask.....thx!

You can keep Kies mini for any future updates or take it off... totally up to you. I am really not to sure of any major changes from 2.2 to 2.2.1. I think it was mainly to improve Froyo stability. If you want 2.2.1 you can put the Vibrant 4G ROM on your phone.

Read my post on the "Vibrant Plus ROM Ported" in the Custom Rom section of this forum.
Just be sure to read up on installing custom ROMS before you attempt it so that you don't end up with a jacked up Vibrant!!!!

If you are having problems with Kies you should just root your phone and install a custom 2.2 rom. Its pretty easy and is so worth it. I  will never run a stock rom again!
