Apple may be preparing a new iPad with a 2048x1536 resolution, but if some recent tipoffs turn out to be true, Samsung might beat them to the punch with a new 11.6" Android tablet sporting - wait for it - an even larger 2560x1600 pixel resolution.

The device will probably be launched during the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, Spain, if the source is correct. That pins the launch date between February 27 and March the 1st. Samsung's own Exynos 5250 SoC - containing a pair of 2Ghz Cortex A15 cores - will power the beast.  free iphone games

The Korean company is also preparing a few other new features for the device, such as Android Beam, which allows synchronization with a Galaxy Nexus phone, and a special mode to attach the tablet to an HDTV, wirelessly. Last but not least, the operating system will be Android 4.0.

Not much other information is known thus far. The other manufacturers are sure to start putting similar high-DPI screens in their new tablets as well, so let's all hope that the notebook manufacturers will eventually take a hint - that whole 1366x768-resolution-on-every-laptop-regardless-of-price thing is getting old.
