Well first take out the battery, sim card, and sd card. Leave the back off of it an put the phone in some rice so that it is completely covered and leave it for a day or so. Then put the battery in and see if it turns on. If not check the white dot under the battery. If it is not white use a q-tip and dab some bleach on it. That should turn it white. Call T-Mobile and tell then that the phone wont turn on and you have even tried it with another battery. They should send you a new phone.

The plan on calling T-Mobile and telling them it won't turn on will probably not work. There is an indicator that shows if it has been wet. I know that from first hand experience. Sorry about the phone :-(

Yes the indicator or "white dot" turns a pink or red when the phone gets wet but if you put bleach on it it turns back to white. I have never done it but have heard that it works. Even if T-Mobile finds water damage when you send the phone in all they will do is make you pay for a new phone which you will have to do anyway.

So I thought I would share my story and give you all a good laugh.   So..My Vibrant was having problems with the USB connector being loose and I call to get a replacement phone.  They had me take the battery off and they asked me what color the little square was?  I told them it was white, which it was, then asked them why.   He told me that if it had water damage it would be pink.   Now you know what comes next......the next day I was at work and ran to the bathroom with my phone in my hand and accidently dropped it in the toilet!!  It was one of those low flow models and I quickly grabbed it out, it was still working but it was too late, the tab was already pink!   So when the new phone came I carefully took a razor blade and moved the new tab to the old phone.  I'm on my 3rd phone, another bad USB connector, and when I talked to customer service and they asked about the square I told them it was white and when the new phone came I transfered the new tab to the old one.  Now there is also a tab inside the phone that you can't get to so this may not work in the long run.   You can also purchase some of the tabs on ebay.   Try the rice, I hear that really works.

Rice doesn't always work.  I had a blackberry before the vibrant, and it stopped working after I was in a rainstorm.  Never turned the tab pink, but it was enough moisture that it stopped working.  Had it in rice for a week and still nothing.

Sigh...I accidentally left my vibrant in my jacket and tossed the jacket in the washer. It was in the water for a good few minutes before i noticed. I got it to turn on and working normally after a day in the rice container. But the battery indicator is going crazy. I have to charge it for like 10 minutes before i can turn it on every time. Do you guys think the battery is dead? Does the battery die like that once it is exposed to water? Does anyone have any idea?

I would say go ahead and get a new battery and see if it solves your problem. Even if it does not you are lucky it still turns on at all!

Just thought of a clever way to protect your white tabs in the phone. Put some scotch or packaging tape over it to keep moisture away from it; that way it won't turn pink (unless of course you throw it in a deep pool or something)

T-Mobile phones have this and the Fascinate is not a T-Mobile phone.

I know, but you would think this kind of thing to check for water damage would be universal.
