Vibrant beat the two HTC-made devices by a bit for CPU and 2D graphics performance. But when it came to 3D graphics performance, the I9000 trumped the Qualcomm-equipped smartphones, achieving more than twice the frame rates of both the Nexus One and Desire!

Just about twice the performance. Very interesting.

Somehow Samsung has apparently doubled the memory bandwidth in the Vibrant. I'd guess a dual-channel controller but I've already seen it specifically stated by Samsung that it doesn't have one. (The S5PV210, Hummingbird's sister chip for tablets, does, and is probably what Apple's A4 in the iPad was based on.)

Wish I could pin down an ARM engineer who has any ideas to offer. I'm stuck wondering if they just gave it huge, high speed GPU cache...

Well, given that the iPhone 4's CPU is probably closely related to the Hummingbird in the Vibrant (for example, the CPU in the iPhone 3GS is Samsung's S5PC100), we probably won't see a whole lot of difference between the two.
