I have my TMobile Vibrant rooted and running the most recent Team Whisky ROM.  It's fast and lovely.  I would just like some better voice and data connectivity in my office at work.  I have Odin3 installed and have downloaded a modem file called PDA_JL5.  I am just not sure about how to get this going and if I should flash.  Could this help with calls and data in my office where both are minimal at best?  Should I do it?  How do I do this using Odin?  I know this is asking alot from my friends here but it is a new area that I can't seem to find alot of information on and I do not want to mess up my happy relationship with my phone and my new TW ROM.

JL5 is an older modem for for the Vibrant. Below is a link of modems that you can flash with either CWM or Odin. I am currently using KA5 and it works well for me. But try out different ones and see what works best for you. Also if you have areas with weak signal and have access to a wifi network you could try the wifi calling app.

Here is the flashable wifi calling app. Just flash through CWM.

DrewDude,
Many thanks.  WiFi is not an option at work.  I just thought flashing another modem might help with the call/data reception there and I will try them out.  Just one more question.  How do I tell what version of modem I have how?  Just in case I want to go back?  Thank you so much for your time! Smile

Press menu> settings> about phone. Look at the baseband version and that will tell you what modem you are using.

Thanks DrewDude.  I flashed the JK6 modem with ODIN with no problems. Hopefully it will help my crummy reception at the office.  I've always wondered what the "download" option was when I pressed the power/screen lock button was.  It means that I don't have to pull the case off of my phone, remove the back cover, then remove the battery to get to download mode.  Just one quick menu selection and I'm in download mode.  For anyone wondering I'm running Team Whiskey's Bionix V rom and love it.  Smile

Did you find a modem that worked for you? I hope you tried more that than JK6 as that is a way old modem.
